Opportunity for Deaf (BSL Users) Cultural Leaders
Deadline for applications: 4 February

Hands On is a leadership development programme for mid-career Deaf (British Sign Language users) cultural leaders working in the creative and cultural sector.


Aimed at supporting and developing people in furthering their leadership roles, the programme will:
Provide learning tools and methods; Offer inspiration through presentations from Deaf speakers using Direct Communication; Support participants in their development as leaders
Workshops will be held over 3 days in different locations across England from February to May 2011.
It is free and all travel and expenses will be paid.

Calling All Young Disabled/Deaf Artists
• Are you aged 13 - 19 years old?
• Are you a disabled or D/deaf person?
• Are you a budding visual artist?
If the answer to these questions is yes, then here's your chance!

DaDa - Disability and Deaf Arts, Tate Liverpool and FACT are running an exciting visual arts project for artistic disabled and D/deaf young people. Workshops about 2D visual arts and Digital Arts will be led by inspirational visual artists. Work produced from the project will be put forward to be showcased at Tate Liverpool or FACT.
The two-hour workshops will take place every Monday from 4.30-6.30pm for five weeks, starting on 21st February 2011.Travel and any access support will be provided if required.

Applications must be received before 12pm on Thursday 3rd February 2011. DaDa cannot return any art work posted to us.

Workshop Leaders Required
DaDa - Disability and Deaf Arts are looking for workshop leaders to run sessions for DaDaLive, the progressive live art-form programme for Disabled/Deaf young people aged 13-19 years from Merseyside. The project is delivered through a partnership between Fittings Multimedia Arts, DaDa - Disability and Deaf Arts, and Fuse: New Theatre for Young People.
The sessions are a two hour introduction into the different aspects of performance as follows and are held on Tuesday's from 4.30 - 6.30pm:
• Music for Performance: Tuesday 8th Feb
• Mask/Physical Theatre: Tuesday 1st March

Unlimited Commissions
DaDa was delighted to hear how many DaDaFest alumni have been awarded Unlimited Commissions when they were announced earlier this week. Amongst the 13 commissioned are DaDa Artist of the Year Simon Mckeown, Candoco Dance Company, Mishele Weaver's Bipolar Circus Theatre (a preview of which was at DaDaFest International 2010), Claire Cunningham, Caroline Bowditch, Marc Brew and DaDa Patron Kaite O'Reilly.
Unlimited is the ground-breaking Cultural Olympiad programme that celebrates arts and culture by disabled and Deaf artists. It is funded by the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, the UK Arts Councils, and the British Council.

Theatre Interpreting Course
The Theatre Interpreting Course has been developed by ALRA (the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts) to provide training for BSL Interpreters seeking to interpret live theatrical performances for Deaf BSL users.
Participants must have studies BSL NVQ Level 4. The course will run each Saturday from 19 March - 29 May 2011.

You will work regularly with actors in training and the course will culminate in participants signing a theatrical performance.

One-day accredited course - Using the Arts with Young People at Risk - 5 May 2011, 10am- 4.15 pm - (Subsidies available for voluntary and community organisation, through support for the Progress Project, for bookings made before the 25th March 2011)

Education Outreach Worker, Chester Mystery Plays

Salary: £20k-25k pro rata, Part time

The Board of Chester Mystery Plays is seeking to appoint an Education Outreach Worker for Sharing the Mystery, a Heritage Lottery Fund supported project. This is offered as a part time, freelance contract. The project has four main strands of activity, one of which is to develop and deliver a new education and learning programme focusing on increasing the engagement of young people and culturally diverse people with Chester Mystery Plays (the next full scale production of the Chester Mystery Plays will be in summer 2013).
