Knowledge Lives Everywhere - FACT
Exhibition open 01 April - 12 June Free Entry

'Galleries are not just about objects; they are about the people who use them: students, children, researchers, schools, older people, families and more.'

Knowledge Lives Everywhere is an exhibition celebrating and showcasing the work of FACT's unique community, schools and young people's programmes. The exhibition includes work by a group of young disabled/ deaf people in collaboration with DaDa - Disability and Deaf Arts.

Purple Patch Arts Training
Purple Patch Arts mission is to ‘inspire creative adventure' in the lives and hearts of people with learning disabilities. If you would like to reserve a place on any of the following training courses please e-mail info@purplepatcharts.org or telephone 07773 767427.

10th May 2011: Diversify your Practice: 10-4pm An introduction to diversifying your creative practice to work with disabled people.

6th July 2011: Changing Minds: 10-4pm An introduction to Dementia and the role of creativity in older peoples care.

10th September 2011: Make it Multisensory: 10-4pm
An introduction to the use of multisensory tools to create inclusive creative environments.
8th November 2011: Accessible Creativity: 10-4pm An introduction to the use of audio description, tactile art and ‘Easy English' in creative facilitation

Courses cost £102 per place or you can block book all four courses for £350. All courses will be delivered at Manchester Yard Theatre.

DaDa Patron Kaite O'Reilly Wins Ted Hughes Award
Judges Gillian Clarke, Stephen Raw and Jeanette Winterson have awarded the 2010 Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry to Kaite O'Reilly for her extraordinary retelling of Aeschylus' play, The Persians.
Now in its second year, the Ted Hughes Award for New Work in Poetry is awarded annually to recognise excellence in poetry. It is one of the only awards to acknowledge the wide range of work being produced - not just in books, but beyond.
O'Reilly's work has been performed nationally and internationally. She was recently awarded an Unlimited Commission to develop The ‘d' Monologues as part of the Cultural Olympiad, celebrations for the London Olympic Games 2012.

Airports for the Lights - Jyll Bradley
The Bluecoat have the fantastic Airports for the Lights photographic exhibition by Jyll Bradley on until Sunday 1 May. It uses light-boxes, text and sound.
Formerly the Artist in Residence at Liverpool's historic Botanical Collection, Bradley's photography makes use of her encounters with the natural environment, and captures human life in brilliant, colourful detail.

On display until Sunday 1st May. Daily 10am-6pm - Free

Open Call: International Physical Theatre Festival
Physical Fest in Liverpool is accepting submissions for extracts of new physical work for Fest Live- 4th June.

Physical Fest is an eight day annual festival of workshops, events and performances which attracts artists and participants from all over the world. The festival is seeking submissions for their open platform showcase event, Fest Live which presents extracts of new physical/ movement based work from both emerging and established artists.

The event is a collaboration with the Unity Theatre Liverpool and an opportunity to showcase your work to northwest promoters and a festival audience. If you are interested in submitting an extract which could be from an existing piece, or a piece in development, please email physicalfest@tmesistheatre.com for an application form. Deadline for applications, Monday April 25th.

Triangle Trust
deadline: 14 May 2011
The Triangle Trust 1949 Fund is inviting applications from charity organisations for projects that support:
• carers, community arts and education, disability, older people, poverty, integration and rehabilitation.
Grants are normally in the range of £1,000 and £10,000. The objectives of the Fund are the alleviation of poverty and the promotion of good health and welfare, the advancement and furthering of education. Successful projects will either maintain an open, inclusive society or promote integration (or reintegration) of individuals or groups into society. Preference will be given to smaller charities, charities which serve a locality or region of the UK, rather than national charities, and causes which find it more difficult to raise funds from the general public. DCMS/Wolfson Museums & Galleries Improvement Fund
The DCMS/Wolfson Fund, financed equally by Government and the Wolfson Foundation, supports projects which improve the quality of displays, public spaces, environmental controls and disabled access in museums and galleries across England. The Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries has announced that DCMS and the Wolfson Foundation will provide £8 million in the next spending period (2011-15), to be awarded in two rounds.

Merseyside Police Authority Community Grants Available
Community organisations whose work has an impact on community safety and crime reduction within their neighbourhood are being invited to apply for a grant from Merseyside Police Authority.

The Police Property Act Fund is held by Merseyside Police Authority and is funded by money that has come from the sale of property which has come into the police's possession through crimes. Not for profit organisations can apply for the funds and the amount that can be approved will be considered on a case by case basis.

There are certain criteria that an organisation has to meet before an application will be considered:

The organisation must be Merseyside based.
It must be a bona fide organisation with not for profit purposes.
The project has an impact on community safety and crime reduction.
The desired outcomes can be easily measured.

The Marketing Officer will work across all departments, and partner organisations, this includes FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology), in Liverpool, folly in Lancaster and Cornerhouse, in Manchester. The festival works with over 60 partners so we need a great communicator who can work under pressure.

Extend - BBC Disability Scheme
Closing date: 3 May 2011. Exclusively for disabled people, Extend is an award-winning, BBC-wide work placement scheme which offers appropriately experienced and/or qualified people a great opportunity to gain six months' paid work experience within the BBC. Although the scheme doesn't necessarily lead to a full-time job, last year 70% gained further work at the BBC.
From September 2011, 21 placements will be available across the UK, in both programming areas and programme support areas. You'll need to match the criteria for the placement as well as demonstrate a keen interest in broadcasting and knowledge of BBC output.
