Thank you everyone who attended and took part in DaDaFest International 2010 and thank you to all the wonderful artists and performers who made this year's festival such a huge success. With over 27,000 visitors (and counting) experiencing the festival this year, it's certainly been one to remember.

DaDaAwards Recipients

If you couldn't make it along to the DaDaAwards it was a great night out followed by a projection of Simon McKeown's Motion Disabled at St Georges Dock: http://dadafest2010.co.uk/news/motion-disabled-showcased-in-17-countries... which was also shown at a number of locations globally. The shortlisted artists were:

Emerging Artist of the Year

Disability and Deaf Arts News
Actors Wanted Closing date for applications:- 8th December 2010
Auditions will be held at the Maritime Museum, Albert Docks on Monday 13th December 2010. Seized! are now casting for their substance awareness programme which runs in January 2011 at Seized! The Border and Customs Uncovered Museum. Casting breakdown is as follows:- 1 male playing age 15 years. All actors should be locally based and preferably have experience of young people's theatre. Previous experience or knowledge of substance awareness/health education projects is also an advantage.
The contract is between 4th January and 2nd February 2011. The fee is £1380.

The Lowry is an award winning visual and performing arts centre at the heart of Greater Manchester's vibrant waterfront at Salford Quays.
As part of the Technical Department the Theatre Technician will facilitate the technical requirements of The Lowry's theatre spaces and have an excellent track record delivering a friendly and professional service. This includes carrying out all duties associated with the getting in, fitting up, running and getting out of productions/events taking place in the theatre spaces & assisting in events in other spaces and locations.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in a similar position in a receiving or producing theatre environment, have excellent attention to detail, with an ability to adapt to new situations in a busy multi purpose venue. Therefore strong skills in lighting, sound, theatrical staging or flying are essential with a working knowledge of the other areas. Knowledge of Health and safety legislation is also essential & IT/AV skills & knowledge is preferred.

New Writing Night, Manchester, Up In The Gods/Schmucks

BBC award-winning writer Anna Forsyth (The Gay Geese) returns her work to the stage after a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe and sell-out London previews, turning her talent to the short play for new writing night Schmuck Off. The night, brainchild of Schmucks Theatre Company, consists of six new plays from up-and-coming writing talents and sees Anna reuniting the Up In The Gods partner Natalie Crispwho produced The Gay Geese for Edinburgh, acting as assistant director.
Anna's contribution to Schmuck Off is The Mourning Party, set in 1963 in the American Midwest, and telling the story of three strangers who meet in the bar, and find comfort in their sharing their grief after losing a common hero. The play stars Ollie Kerswell, fresh from Schmucks' successful debut production The Carroll Myth alongside new young talents Matt Holt and Emma Jones.
Other plays included in the night cover such varied topics as lesbian adoption, post-apocalyptic societies and alcoholism, all for the bargain price of £5 (£4.50 for students).

This position is supported by the DCMS Jerwood Creative Bursaries Scheme which is funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and Arts Council England and managed by the Jerwood Foundation and Jerwood Charitable Foundation.
Contact are looking for a Trainee Producer who is keen to develop the necessary skills to produce the festivals and regular events at Contact. You will be supported and trained through your work with the Artistic Director, Baba Israel and the programming and events team.
Contact are looking for someone who can demonstrate a commitment to working with young people in a creative environment and who is keen to work alongside Contact's dynamic team to deliver creative events of the highest standard.
You will need to meet the criteria of the DCMS Jerwood Creative Bursaries Scheme details of which can be found in the Jerwood website.
