National Schools Film Week:
The world's largest festival for cinema & young people. More than 500 audio described shows in 120 cinemas. England, Wales & Northern Ireland: 15th - 23rd October 2009 Scotland: 2nd - 6th November 2009
National Schools Film Week (NSFW) provides teachers and their students the opportunity to catch a wide range of films at local cinemas entirely free-of-charge. The festival is available to any school. After a record attendance of 410,000 last year, NSFW hopes to achieve 450,000 in 2009. This year's festival features more events with services for those with hearing or sight loss than ever before, reflecting the current move to expand the provision for all young people attending the cinema, whatever their ability. As Cinema-going is one of the most popular social activities it is only right that all young people are given the opportunity to experience films where they are intended to be enjoyed, on the big screen, with their classmates, and share the enjoyment of discussing the film afterwards.
To view shows and book your places, visit the website here:
http://www.yourlocalcinema.com/nsfw.09.ad.html or phone 020 7292 7300. Please note that these screenings are for school groups only and are not open to the public. If you would like to attend one of the free audio described shows listed you must let your school know, so they can book tickets! Tickets are issued on a strictly first come, first served basis.
