Artists with Nerve
Nerve Magazine is looking for inspiring, interesting or beautiful paintings/photos or mixed media images of Merseyside resistance for the Nerve Calendar 2010. Images could already be in existence or created specially for the calendar. They could be of past events, or of ongoing resistance. They could be an artist's impression of the Gay Pride celebrations on Merseyside, an amalgamation, in pictures, of the sides of the Merchant Seaman statue at the Pier Head, a photo of the ‘Women of the Waterfront', or a depiction of the ongoing guerrilla greening of Granby Street area. The list is almost endless. There is no cash payment for this (all work for Nerve is voluntary), but there will be an exhibition of all the work submitted. The deadline is Friday 2 October 2009.

Young Tate activities
Young Tate are running a week of activities for young people in a marquee outside the Tate from August 10th - 16th. All activities are free, fun, and designed and led by young people for other young people. From Monday to Wednesday, there is arts activity inspired by the Colour Chart exhibition. On Thursday there is a day of music and performance by talented, up and coming young musicians and performers. And on Friday, young people are invited to make lanterns which will form part of a procession on Saturday night down to the pier head. There is no need to book, all activities are drop in. The tent has a capacity of 100, and young people can stay all day, or dip into one or two activities or spend a while hanging out in the chillout area. There will be free tours of the exhibition for limited numbers each afternoon at 4.00pm, which can be booked on the day. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions. The Liverpool Signing Choir
Are being filmed by the Beeb on Sun 6th Sept 09 at the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. They are featuring the choir as part of one of their Inside out program. We have decided to make the evening a fundraiser
We have a fantastic tenor Mr Martin Toal who will sing Nessun Dorma & The Fields of Athenry. The choir will Sign as Martin sings. We also have the choirs own wonderful young up & coming singers & of course The Liverpool Signing Choir will entertain you with their own unique style of sign through music. Tickets will be on sale soon priced £5 or pay at the door.

Grants for the Arts Seminars for First-time Applicants
Arts Council England, North West is offering a seminar for potential first-time applicants to Grants for the arts. The seminar is free of charge and is designed to provide a valuable introduction to the scheme, offering guidance on how to complete an application form and budget for your activity, how to understand the assessment criteria and how to write the proposal, as well as getting further advice on your ideas and support in making your application. The next seminar will be held at Blackburne House in Liverpool on Monday 7 September from 2-4pm, specifically targeting individual artists. Further seminars will be confirmed later in the year. Liverpool City Council's Culture Liverpool tender for Artistic Directors, Creative Producers, Project Managers & Co-ordinators, Stage Managers, Production and other Specialist Technical Practitioners and Company Hosts is still open. In 2007 and 2008 the Liverpool Culture Company successfully created a pool of practitioners to assist with the creation and delivery of what has been widely acclaimed as the most successful European Capital of Culture programme to date. Across the Universe
"Across the Universe" is a creative arts programme seeking to support the development of speaking and listening skills in 24-48 month old children using creative arts interventions. The project requires a lead artist to collaborate with early years professionals ,parents, families and LARC partners to support the children to explore and influence creative practice in early years settings. The artist will be required to document, share and explore creative arts practice with young children and practitioners, record the learning journeys and support research and findings of the project as well as assist in evaluating the work and rolling out findings and CPD resources from the project. Freelance Artists Fee: (£10-12k per annum initially) in year 1 summer 09- March 2010, with potential to extend a further year until march 2011, pending funding. Actors needed for Fingers Burnt
Altru Drama are looking to expand on the success of their performance Fingers Burnt by redeveloping the piece for 2009. We are looking for 3 talented, committed and enthusiastic actors to join us in this process and, hopefully, take the performance on tour a month later. Power Play
Power Play are music workshop sessions at the Walton Youth Project. The programme is aimed at 13-18 year olds with little or no musical experience and covers areas including songwriting, rap, guitar tuition, recording and event promotion. It will be run by experienced MYA music leaders with dedicated support from Walton Youth Project workers. Sessions are free and will run every Thursday from 6-8pm for the next 16 weeks - starting this Thursday July 30th at the Project Post, 186 Walton Village, L4 6TW. PARTIA (Promoting Arts In Aintree) was established in September 2007 with the key aim of enhancing the patients experience of Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Over the last 18 months it has embedded itself within the culture of the hospital. A diverse range of arts activities have taken place in the hospital ranging from specially commissioned art to performances for patients and staff. Exhibitions have been held on a regular basis. Strong links have been formed with cultural and arts organisations and the local and hospital community. Patients, carers and staff have contributed and taken part in events. A number of arts groups have evolved under the umbrella of PARTIA run by staff volunteers. Over 30 projects/events have taken place within the hospital since the inception of PARTIA, and there are currently around 20 projects in progress, 3 of which will tie in with the artist residency programme. Improving wayfinding around the site, Increasing access to Bluebell Woods which borders the hospital site, Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility. PARTIA invites artists working in all media and at any stage in their career to apply for our 2009 Residency Programme. This project is wholly funded by charitable funds.Applications are welcome from artists based in the UK and overseas, and although we cannot accept applications from current undergraduate students we welcome applications from recent graduates. Four artists will be selected to work for a period of 14 days, and to attend the opening exhibition on Tuesday 22nd September. Proposal: To highlight Aintree Hospital's commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and becoming more sustainable as part of Liverpool's ‘Year of the Environment', we would like to recruit four resident artists to work with local schools and colleges to create 4 onsite monumental recycled sculptures. As part of a separate project to improve hospital way finding we have split the site into four zones; tree zone, bird zone, wildlife zone and flower zone. We intend to produce a relevant monumental sculpture for each of these zones. We would also like to reflect the natural aspect of the site and links to Bluebell Woods. Residency 1: ‘Recycled domestic type waste' sculpture Includes such material as catering tins, plastic bottles etc Residency 2 and 3: ‘Recycled Hospital Materials' Sculpture Includes equipment such as old hospital beds, wheel chairs and crutches old theatre equipment etc. Residency 4: Wood Sculpture/s Using wood from the local Bluebell Wood. Each of these four residency vacancies will run alongside one another.
Facilities We have no onsite workshop, but suitable working space will be provided to you when possible. Other facilities and equipment: Colour printer/scanner, Internet Access, Welding Shop (Need own welding equipment), Access to social spaces, Exhibition which will be held onsite for a minimum of 6 months. Each resident artist will be supported by:A £500 artist fee. All recycled materials. On site accommodation if required. £250 max for travel expenses and art consumables/fixing costs. Hope Street Limited has been commissioned to produce On The Road, which will culminate in an exciting performance and installation linked to the NML Egypt exhibition for KS2. The programme will deliver a creative learning outreach programme to selected primary schools in Knowsley, Liverpool and St. Helens. It is funded by central government through the ‘Find Your Talent' pathfinder programme, led by National Museums Liverpool. The programme aims to encourage children and young people to engage with their local cultural arts experience. Type Schools tour of Liverpool, St Helens & Knowsley Rehearsals 24th - 29th August & 12th October - 1st November 2009 at NML in Liverpool city centre. Tour 2nd November and tours until 30th April 2010 Contract Hope Street Limited in-house contract: £380-£400 per week. You will be employed on a PAYE basis and will receive holiday pay at 8%. Writer Devised Director/Composer Patrick Dineen Auditions Workshop on 18th August in Liverpool City Centre, from 09.30 onwards - please be available all day for callbacks. Performers should: - have experience of devising and approaching the creation of new work imaginatively - have worked previously with music, song and vocal techniques - have experience of working in a museum context, or researching material for creating work for young people, with experience of KS2 - have experience of intensive weekly touring and be familiar with the physical demands of this. - have experience of creating and performing interactive theatre - be Merseyside based for the duration of the rehearsals and tour. We actively encourage submissions from individuals that reflect the diversity of the community. It is desirable, but NOT essential, that applicants are in possession of a clean driving license. Applicants must be in possession of an up to date enhanced CRB disclosure.
