Dance Highlights

GIMP - This week we are highlighting the dance performances as part of DaDaFest International 2010 http://dadafest2010.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d690a99461871dd1e1... . We are delighted to be presenting some UK Premiere's as well as new commissions.

Kicking off DaDaFest's programme is GIMP at the Playhouse. It has received rave reviews in the US and this will be its first performance in the UK. Dance magazine said GIMP 'is without doubt a gleaming milestone in the progress of contemporary dance and theatre.' It confronts the audience with their preconceptions, challenging us to re-think accepted notions about dance, performance and body image. This groundbreaking show will be on at the Playhouse on Thursday 18 November.

If you prefer your dance a little more risqué, then book soon for DaDaLesque http://dadafest2010.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d690a99461871dd1e1... , a DaDaFest favourite, it's sure to be a sell out. Staring Millie Dollar, Mat Fraser, the infamous headmistress of The New York School of Burlesque Jo ‘Boobs' Weldon, Anna Fur Laxis and Julie Atlas Muz. The very entertaining DaDaLesque is happening at the Bluecoat on Sunday 28 November.

On Thursday 2 December we have two highly creative and anticipated dance works at the Contemporary Urban Centre. Firstly, I Fall to Pieces http://dadafest2010.us1.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=d690a99461871dd1e... by Kaite O'Reilly, an Unlimited Commission work in progress for the Cultural Olympiad staring Liverpool's own Julie McNamara. The experimental Dances for Non Fictional Bodies http://dadafest2010.us1.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=d690a99461871dd1e... follows this, featuring Claire Cunningham, it's sure to be a must-see for all dance fans.

Leftovers is the festival dance finale is, a dance bill of 4 new works from Japan, Australia and the UK that all redefine expectations of physicality.

These dance performances are presented as part of LEAP 2010 http://dadafest2010.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=d690a99461871dd1e1... .
