Writer's Wanted
"Me and Marilyn Monroe" rehearsed reading at the Unity Theatre on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 November 2010. ‘Only me and Marilyn Monroe get looked at every time we walk into a room' a disabled poet once remarked. Inspired by this, DaDaFest International 2010 would like to invite talented and exciting up-and-coming Deaf and Disabled writers in the UK to turn their own unwavering gaze upon the world around them and send us their new scripts to be part of a series of rehearsed readings at this year's Festival. We will be working at the Unity Theatre with a diverse group of actors on two scripts a day to be performed in a rehearsed read through in the evening.

On Tuesday night the evening will be topped off by a reading of a new play from America, "Krankenhaus Blues", by Sam Forman.
Are you a disabled or deaf writer who has a play that has never been performed in the UK and would like to have it read as part of DaDaFest in a top Liverpool theatre venue? Then please send a CV and some information about your work and the script to DaDaFest international Artistic Director Garry Robson via details below. All the work received will then go through a selection process and the final plays chosen will be judged by a panel who will decide on the plays to be read over the two evenings. We are unable to pay any fees for the work, but reasonable expenses will be paid to the writers. The writer will be expected to attend the rehearsals on either 22 or 23 November and the readings performances in the evenings.

The closing date for all entries is 31 August 2010. We will contact all applicants by the end of September to let them know if they are successful in their application. Bed-In at the Bluecoat
In celebration of John Lennon's commitment to peace, the Bed-In at the Bluecoat will pay homage to one of the actions that John Lennon and Yoko Ono carried out in 1969 immediately after they were married. Their week long bed-ins for peace, staged first in Amsterdam then in Montreal, were expressions of non-violent protest against war. This year, to mark the birth of John Lennon 70 years ago and his death 30 years ago, Liverpool City Council is holding a John Lennon Tribute Season in Autumn 2010. Bed-In at the Bluecoat will be part of this season and is endorsed by Yoko Ono. Bed-In at the Bluecoat invites proposals from anyone who wishes to contribute to this tradition of non-violent action for a better world, using the format of occupying a double-bed sited publicly at the Bluecoat. There are no rules for what the bed-in actions might be. Actions can be serious, humorous, commemorative, and provocative - or all of these in one. Dates: The Bed-In days will run from 9th October (which would have been John Lennon's 70th birthday) to 9th December (the day - UK time - of the 30th anniversary of his assassination). This means there will be 62 occupiers of the bed.
To apply: Give us some information about what your proposed action would consist of and how you would use the time allotted to you (or if you'd want more time than the standard slots). Tell us how you see it fitting with the idea of ‘non-violent action for a better world'. We also need you to submit some information about you and/or your group/associates. CVs are welcome but if you don't submit a CV it won't spoil your chances. Good ideas will prevail. Proposals should be sent to: bed-in@thebluecoat.org.uk
The first closing date for proposals is Wednesday 25th August although there will be a further round of proposals depending on first-round take-up. Successful applicants will be contacted as soon as possible, and all responded to within three weeks. The selection panel's decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding selection decisions.
Exclusions: In keeping with the purpose of the event there will be the following exclusions: material that is illegal, slanderous, obscene, uses foul language, puts the participant or audience at risk, involves nudity or that might cause offence on the grounds of race, gender, age, etc. Participants must be aged 18 or over. Bluecoat will provide the bed and freshly-washed bed-linen. Participants will be expected to cover all other costs. Refreshments will be served to participants on the day.

Dance Transformations
Are you looking to develop your career as a dance artist? Do you need time, space and financial support to explore choreographic ideas? Could you benefit from mentor guidance?
Starting this autumn Dance Transformations is a part time two-three year training programme. It supports emerging artists with a physical disability and/or sensory impairment and non-disabled dance artists based in the West Midlands.
We are keen to recruit artists who have significant potential but may have not received acknowledgement as established ‘creators of choreography'.
The project offers artists time and space to explore choreographic ideas in a supportive ‘unpressured' environment. They will also attend dance seminars, workshops, professional dance company rehearsals and additional events identified by the ‘trainees', partake in a seminar event, and the opportunity to create work in 2012 as part of the Cultural Olympiad celebrations.
The deadline for applications is Monday 6th September 2010.
