Seconds out!
Liverpool theatre goers have an intriguing treat in store at the Actors Studio next month, as a new production company presents a new play by an established writer as part of the Write Now festival. ‘Seconds Out' is a new departure for writer Helen East. Having written for Channel 4's Brookside, and had her play ‘Falling Up' included in BBC 4's Double Act scheme, this production is the first professional production of her writing for the stage. The play focuses on the dilemmas of a successful boxer turned trainer, and his protégé who has enjoyed the adulation but decided to stop competing. Drew Hancock and Andrew Madden go toe-to-toe, whether with gloves on or off! Presenting this show is Organised Chaos Productions, their aim is to find and nurture undiscovered and emerging talent in the North West, providing a platform for creativity by taking care of all the background technicalities. This show is from their first call for new scripts. 'Seconds Out' will be presented at the Actors Studio, Liverpool as part of the Write Now festival on: Saturday 27th March 12:30pm, Sunday 28th March 8:30pm, Wednesday 31st March 5:30pm

++++++++++++++++
Candoco Dance Company to consult on re-positioning Candoco Dance Company has been awarded a grant from Arts Council England (Grants for the Arts) to undertake a nine-month period of research, partnership building and business plan development towards re-positioning the company as a centre for excellence for inclusive dance practice from 2011 onwards. This will include consultation with the sector throughout 2010 to feed into the shaping of the new organisation. The existing touring dance company of disabled and non-disabled dancers will remain firmly at the heart of the Centre for Excellence concept, providing an aspirational model of all that is important to the Company's beliefs. The period of research will explore new strategic programmes of activity for the organisation, including: support for other disabled dancers and disabled choreographers to drive forward the quality of new work within the sector, a focus on debate around the aesthetics and artistic practice of inclusive dance and support for the wider dance sector to become more inclusive in its approach to work. The research period will also seek to build urgently needed pathways to the profession for young disabled dancers, and create groundbreaking new partnerships with the education and vocational training sectors to address the issue of access for young disabled people to vocational dance training. Work will begin in April 2010. If you are interested in being a part of the consultation process, or want to find out more, then please contact the Candoco office on +44 20 77046845, or visit www.Candoco.co.uk
