BSL interpreted performance of Snow White
We have arranged a signed performance of our pantomime - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. This will be held on Wednesday 6th January at 7pm. Liverpool 2010 Dance Commissions
'Culture Liverpool' is Liverpool City Council's new Business Unit which funds and delivers culture and events in the city and manages international relations. Our aim is to help Liverpool build on the success of '08 by creating a dynamic programme that reflects the character and creativity of the city, placing citizens at its heart and inspiring all who participate and spectate. Culture Liverpool wish to commission Liverpool based professional dance companies/artists to contribute to the year-long programme of dance in 2010; Liverpool's Year of Innovation, Health & Well Being. Please be aware that your work will need to take place between 1st April 2010 and the 31st March 2011.
Highlights of 2010 dance programme include:
Dance and Film on the Waterfront, 2nd - 4th July 2010: Dance and Film on the Waterfront will offer an eclectic programme, widening participant experience and building audiences by offering opportunities to see the best of dance.
The Merseyside Dance Promoters Network: This is instigated by Merseyside Dance Initiative (MDI) who are planning, in partnership with Merseyside Arts Venues, a yearlong Leap Dance Festival programme. The extension of the festival in 2010 is to maximise the dance offer and celebrate the 18th anniversary of Leap. New commissions, platforms for local, regional and international artists, youth dance as well as community dance showcases.
World Expo in Shanghai 2010: The development of themed projects that link with Liverpool's 2010 Shanghai Expo. The Expo will run from May to October 2010, the theme of July will be Culture, Health and Sport and this will be celebrated in Liverpool through the dance programme.
Culture Liverpool's aims for the Dance Commissions
Culture Liverpool's aim is to support the development of the arts in 2010 and create a broader comprehensive cultural programme. As part of this programme, Culture Liverpool will continue to drive the momentum gained through profiling dance during 2008, ensuring that it is maintained at a local national and international level. Culture Liverpool is looking for commissions, which can demonstrate an innovative approach to quality producing work.
1. You will need to demonstrate
How the commission will enhance the production of your work.
How the work can be exported to a wider audience and enhance the profile of your work/organization. How you would work with Merseyside Dance Promoters Network. Please provide evidence of this (supporting letter from a venue etc). How it fits into the cultural 2010 programme: Year of Innovation, Health and Wellbeing. Demonstrate a track record of producing quality work that is innovative, diverse and challenging.
2. Evaluation Criteria
In order to apply please submit the following documents. Please note that the weighting given to each element of the application is stated below:
A CV that highlights your experience and capacity to deliver and monitor the project. 30%
Supporting evidence including a show reel, programme notes and supporting letter from a venue. 20%
A submission of your proposal idea that demonstrates the below headings, including a time line and budget breakdown. 40%
Cost; Value for money. 10%
Criteria for selection is based on:
Highest Quality; work with a clear sense of purpose and integrity that has the potential or is already reaching the highest artistic standards of practice. Innovation, Health and Wellbeing; work that is challenging and advancing the art form in new and interesting ways and reflects the theme of Liverpool's year; Innovation, Health and Wellbeing. Engagement; work that has the ability to interact and captivate audiences.
3. Commission Fee
Please state the total fee you would require and submit budget breakdown with the application as referred to above.
4. You must let us know if you are receiving any additional funding from LCC If you are receiving any other funds from LCC please outline the details below

Two new short plays
'Kamala's Baby' and 'The Traveller'. Performed by 18 Deaf young people (half from the UK, half from Nepal) as part of the first ever Deaf Global Exchange Project.

Deaf and hearing people welcome. One play will be performed in BSL, the other in NSL (but with a BSL narrator). There will be a written synopsis of both plays in the programme available on the performance nights so that hearing people who do not sign can follow the stories.

Playwright, Blaize

Exodus Coordinator, Community Arts North West
CAN is seeking a key member of staff to support the continued development of the Exodus Greater Manchester refugee arts programme: You will be the central point of contact for the project and will coordinate, administrate and develop Exodus project activity 2010/11; as well as organise most of the Exodus refugee arts events.
