Find Your Talent Website Call for Content

Deadline 5pm Thursday 9th July Find Your Talent is a landmark £25 million national government programme which asks the question: 'what would it take to give every young person the chance to experience cultural activities for at least five hours a week?' The programme is exploring this question through ten pathfinder projects across the country, each of which is approaching the question in very different ways and from within a very different context. One of these pathfinders is the Liverpool City Region. (For further details please visit http://www.findyourtalent.org/pathfinders/liverpool.html) Find Your Talent's Liverpool City Region programme is producing a new website targeted at 11 - 19 yr olds who may wish to either to attend or take part in cultural and creative activities. This could be independently, with their friends or their family. Phase 1 of the website is having a soft media launch on 20 July 2009 and will provide information for 11-19 yr olds including: a what's on guide. A place to see examples of work produced by their peers through Find Your Talent and other projects. This new exciting resource is a key opportunity for organisations to disseminate their programme and showcase their work to young audiences. Phase 2 of the website (2009 date tbc) will offer 11 - 19 yr olds: careers information and skills profiling tools. A chance to create and develop an online cultural portfolio to evidence their creative experiences. An online evaluation tool to enable young people to evaluate their cultural experiences and feed their views back to the cultural organisations in the city. We would like to invite you to submit information for Phase 1 of the website including your details, programme information, young people-specific news items and a short suggestion for a case study. There will be a formal launch of the website to young people from across Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens at Tate Liverpool on 24th July 2009. There are 4 distinct areas of the website that you can be part of (News, Showcase and Whats On) will be updated by the FYT team) . These areas are: Places to Go (short description of your venue and what you offer generally to young people with web link to your site and googlemap) News (latest stories relevant to young people about your organisation/ competitions/ opportunities to get involved) Showcase (case studies of young people's) What's On (This has 2 subsections - Things to See (more passive events such as screenings, exhibitions, plays etc) and Stuff to Do (active engagement through workshops/ discussion groups). The deadline for all submissions for the launch date is Thursday 9th July 2009. There will be future opportunities to submit further content after this date but to enable you to have a presence of the site for the launch we require information by this date. We may have to make slight amends and edits to your copy to keep it consistent throughout the site. I am afraid due to the turnaround time of this round of submissions we are unable to return the copy to you for sign off before the launch date. There will be new protocols out in place for future submissions that take these issues into account. Go Penguins!
More than one hundred unique penguins will decorate Liverpool City Centre as part of the Go Penguins project - organised by Wild In Art, the team behind the Superlambanana's. The recycleable Go Penguins have been inspired by Liverpool's Year of the Environment, and the festive spectacular also aims to raise awareness of climate change by reflecting on the melting of the ice caps in Antarctica. From mid-November, colonies of small and large penguins will be on display for seven weeks in a special city centre trail. And the penguin posse are calling on schools, artists and communities to get involved in what is bound to be one of the most popular events of 2009. The team are inviting schools to adopt a 3ft penguin - for just £450 - which can be designed in any fun and creative way they like and will then go on display in a city centre indoor venue. The school will get to keep their personalised penguin once the trail has finished. Artists are also being asked to come up with designs for the 5ft penguins, with sponsors picking the designs they want to represent themselves or their organisation. Designs have to be submitted by the end of August. Businesses can become Penguin Patrons by sponsoring their own work of art for £3,000. Schools, artists and communities/sponsors who want to take part in the project should email info@gopenguins.co.uk For more information, go to www.gopenguins.co.uk The initiative is also a highlight of A Winter's Trail which runs from November to January and will see a series of special penguin-themed events take place across the city, with the support of numerous cultural organisations.

This may be rolled out through a publication or a seminar. The project will be supported by National Museums Liverpool's visitor research department and the Find Your Talent team. We already have relationships with young people across the city region and the successful company would be given access to these groups.
